Where Do Cockroaches Hide?

sealing window framesMost roach species prefer warm and dark environments, which is why many homes in the US suffer from roach infestations during the summer time. Most manner of pests would be out and about during summer around June, which peaks in July when it’s usually the hottest. Roaches would be one of such pests. Fortunately, it isn’t really that hard to get rid of roaches, especially if the infestation is just beginning. Nowadays, a simple fogging product could potentially destroy entire nests of pests, even roaches. Killing pest eggs is another problem however. No amount of fogging can get rid of the insect eggs. Most of the time, you’ll have to wait the entire cycle of egg-laying and the growing of adult pests before you fog them again. This way, the pests die before they get to lay new eggs in a different part of the house.

Conventional steps at getting rid of pests include removing sources of water and food for them. When you’re done with your food or water, either clear them or keep them sealed in a container. It is also known that cockroaches like moist or wet areas such as bathrooms or kitchens. If possible you should always make sure that there are no water leakages in these areas. Also, keep your home well ventilated. Any cracks or crevices in the walls or floor in your home need to be fixed as soon as is possible. Vacuum it before you seal those areas off. If you see roach eggs lying about in your house, make sure you leave some poisonous roach baits near that area and vacuum the eggs off.
